OraStream Connect is a digital supply chain for 16-bit/24-bit PCM digital audio. It is entirely cloud-based, comprising automated 16/24-bit audio encoding and metadata (DDEX) ingestion, digital asset database management and store-front apps on desktops and mobile devices. Connect is capable of handling both music downloads and streaming.
OraStream uses MPEG-4 SLS, a scalable to (bit-perfect) lossless audio codec - one (of two) codecs that is eligible to display the HiRes Music logo market (Recording Industry Association of America) for high-res audio streaming. Used in conjunction with bitrate adaptive streaming, Connect delivers 16/24-bit audio services that takes maximum advantage of bandwidth available and service policies to optimize music fidelity and bandwidth usage in streaming. Working with a single lossless digital audio file, Connect minimises origin storage to support lossless downloads in FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF and MP3 formats, with associated artwork and liner notes, when available.
Connect powered Classics Online, a CD- and HD-quality classical music service operated by Naxos of America for two years before the service terminated in early 2017.
